The Best 2019 Back To School Teacher Deals
Hey y’all! Long time, no talk - I’ve been on a crazy road trip around the US, hiking and interviewing teachers for season 2 of the podcast. I’m excited for you to hear the end of season 1 and to start editing the incredible interviews I’ve had with the season 2 guests!
In the meantime, while I know it’s your summer…
Let’s be honest. If you’re a teacher, and it’s July, you’re already planning out your classroom (if you haven’t already been in there). Heck, you’ve probably been thinking about this since the last day of school.
And while people encourage us not to, we all know that the majority of teachers will spend money on their classroom - ESPECIALLY at the beginning of the year. Whether it’s more organization, books, class treasure box, colorful flair pens, I know you’re not going to listen to me if I tell you not to spend your money.
So instead, I’ve compiled a list of places that have awesome back-to-school deals so that, even though you’re spending money, you’ll spend as little money as possible while setting your classroom up for a successful start to the school year.
Wayfair is a HUGE online furniture retailer - I’ve only shopped with them to get rugs or decoration for my home. However, they have a surprisingly great selection of classroom furniture and materials, and they’re having a back-to-school sale!!
They have items spanning from flexible seating, classroom decoration, and organizational bins and buckets. Some of their stuff can get pretty expensive, but you can find some great deals on there, too.
TARGET!!! Teachers love target. I know, of all the money I spent on my classroom, probably 50% of it was in Target. They have everything, from cute furniture, affordable professional clothing, and - most importantly - THEIR DOLLAR AISLE. It’s probably the source of 99% of teachers’ treasure boxes.
And to appreciate teachers, Target is having a special back to school sale! From July 13-20, Teachers can get 15% off on classroom supplies and clothing. You just need to bring your teacher ID or validate it online here.
On July 13, from 12:30-4:30 pm, Walmart is having a Teacher Appreciation Night! There’ll be cake and ice cream, beverages, a photobooth, and if you’re one of the first 300 teachers there, you’ll get a special swag bag with classroom supplies!
Amazon usually has great deals already, but they’re having Happy School Year deals with ALL the things (I mean ALL THE THINGS) you could possible need to get ready for the year. If you need something, I’m sure you’ll be able to find it on Amazon.
If I had all the moneys, I would buy everything in Lakeshore and put it in my classroom. Lakeshore is expensive. I always hesitated buying things from them, but they just have so many supplies that really make a teacher’s life easier.
Luckily for us, they’re having a Back to School Sale that gets you up to 20% off of hundreds of items! That means you can get those borders, bins, butcher paper, learning games, posters - all the things your heart desires for your classroom!
Office Depot and Office Max have started a teacher savings program so we don’t have to spend too much money out of pocket!
From July 14 to September 28, teachers can receive 20% back in rewards for their in-store purchases. All you need is your teacher ID, a rewards number, and a special coupon that will be available here starting July 14. Additionally, they’re already having crazy sales on office/school supplies, so make sure you check it out here!
I’ve always loved the Container Store. They have so many different types of storage and organizational items. If you’re super into bins and drawers and buckets, it will be your heaven. I haven’t found any specific back-to-school sales for teachers, but the Container Store offers year-round discounts exclusive to teachers if you are a part of their Organized Teacher Discount Program.
Oriental Trading has SO many decorations, trinkets, and resources for teachers. A lot of their items come in bulk, so that means they’re cheaper than most stores. They’re having a huge sale on classroom items right now, so stock up on incentives, decorations, and supplies!
There are also lots of places that have teacher discounts year around. Check out the link above to see which stores might give you some deals. In short, ALWAYS keep your teacher ID on you. You might be able to save some money on clothes, food, and supplies.
Enjoy your Savings!
